Telford and Wrekin CVS launch an improved service for adults living in Telford who have or may have autism. People who are aged over 16 seeking information, advice and support about their individual circumstances will have access to both pre and post diagnostic support.
Funding commitment from Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group will enable the Listen not Label team and their volunteers to support people seeking a diagnosis through a pathway based upon their personal needs.
A single point of referral system will be in place early September 2016. Referrals from GP surgeries and self-referrals will be assessed for need. Pre diagnostic support and expert autism advice will be given by qualified staff members to ensure appropriate support is given at the right time.
A series of autism workshops will be delivered on site based upon common themes suggested by our clients. Individuals will be supported to navigate a pre diagnostic tool kit and those seeking a formal diagnosis will be supported to understand what that means.
Clients will be signposted into education, social groups, employment, training opportunities and into other community settings where they can best support the client to aspire, achieve and grow.
Telford Autism Hub provide an array of activities including Table Tennis, Snooker, music and board games. There are regular guest speakers from outside organisations and workshops tailored to meet needs.
We're always happy to welcome new volunteers who would like to dedicate some of their time to helping others. If you'd like to lend a hand, please don't hesitate to contact us, new members are always welcome.
